Well, Apple announced iPhoto 4 today, and it looks sweet. You can be sure that I’m going to get my hands on a copy as soon as I possibly can to see if iPhotoToGallery still works. It’s very possible that they may have changed the Plugin API. If so, I’ll do my best to get iPhotoToGallery updated as soon as possible.

It’s been more than a month since the last beta of iPhotoToGallery was released, so I thought I’d update you on the status of the next version.
The plugin is going through a major overhaul right now, adding some more very-requested features and a UI overhaul. I’m also rewriting most of the code that interacts with Gallery in order to make it more robust when talking to different versions.
The next release should be very very cool. Look for it in a couple weeks.

After some complaints about the less-than-impressive image quality on resized images, I re-did that part using QuickTime. Image quality should be vastly improved when you opt to use the auto-resize feature. Eventually I’ll provide a slider for quality/compression.
You’ll find it in the Download section, like always. Keep the good feedback coming!

Image Resizing was by far the most requested feature for iPhotoToGallery, and now it has it! I don’t have any previous experience in image manipulation using Cocoa, so I’m not sure it’s as good as it can be. Try it out and let me know what you think. (I’d appreciate any advice from any of you AppKit gurus out there…)
This 0.4-beta release also adds an Install.app package, to make installs that much easier. This is the first install package I’ve ever made, so let me know about any problems.
Head on over to the download section to get it. (Remember to re-start iPhoto after installation – I’ll add that to the installer package soon.)
Update: Currently, resizing causes JPEG images to lose all EXIF data. Thanks to David Reindl for pointing this out – I’m looking at ways to preserve it.

I made up a new release for those of you using the 1.4 Release Candidates of Gallery. Also, a user found out that older 1.3.x releases may not work. I don’t plan on adding support for them – some of those early 1.3 releases have significant security holes that should force you to upgrade anyway.
System Requirements:
- iPhoto 2
- Mac OS X 10.2 (or later)
- Safari 1.0
- Gallery 1.3.4 or greater
Hit the download link there on the left to get it.
